In the wake of fat bikes and pedelecs, urban, cyclocross and gravel are currently picking up speed in the bicycle industry – a development that proves beyond a doubt that the industry is in a far better position to reinvent the wheel then one might think. New species of bicycles, accessories and digital gadgets are driving rapid innovation and increasing networking in the sports and transport apparatus sector, which has long since become a hotbed of lifestyle dynamics.
To succeed in this rough and tumble market, companies have no choice but to live or die by the dual swords of brand and design. Hence the focus of the German Design Council’s international Bicycle Brand Contest is on ingenious brand management and communication strategies. The competition is open to all companies in the bicycle industry, as well as the suppliers, designers and brand communication specialists with whom they partner.
Independent, professional The winners will be selected by a jury of independent experts from the fields of media, design and brand communication.

18 award categories Prizes will be awarded in 18 categories, plus four special prizes: Innovation of the Year, Team of the Year, Brand of the Year and Agency of the Year. The jury will also be bestowing a Brand Manager of the Year award on an individual whose achievements for their company have been outstanding.
